It's about Sunday at noon and my weekend has gotten away from me.
Ok, so I am still gainfully employed. Guess that didn't happen. Stickin with it for a bit longer. No more stress on that front.
Money issues should ease up a bit too.
Tony has a new friend that needs a place to live. His name is Lukas, and he will move in on the 1st. He's only got a few personal items, so the move in will be quick and painless. He will likely just stay a couple months. That will help out with bills.
And speaking of Bills, my friend Bill in Chicago and I are still trying to figure out how were gonna do a move of him down to Austin. We keep creeping closer and closer to making the big decision.
My mom emailed me about some surgery she is getting on March 1st. Sounds like she will be out of commission for a good while. My dad is at the height of tax season, and is working 16 hour days. They live so far out that someone really should be nearby in case 'someone' might need some medicine, videos, or Chunky Monkey Ben and Jerry's ice cream.
I got a ticket to fly up there on the 29th and will stay with her for a week. My mom of course doesn't want anyone to take care of her, but their house is in shambles (they are right in the middle of a major reconstruction) and my mom just won't sit still. I bought the tickert first. I wasn't gonna be denied! Muhwha!
I can work from anywhere and I even have my own office while visiting. I can go and work all day and keep on eye on her and make sure she hasn't decided that the gym equipment suddenly should go in the basement and start sliding it down the steps on cardboard boxes. 'Cuz she would!
So next Sunday I head back to Denver.
This weekend was pretty busy.
I had Nathan Brooks in town from New Orleans/San Diego for some more photos. I haven't even got his first shoot online yet, and we are doing more. He's great to work with! I will get his first shoot online on April 1st. So I spent a lot of time with him, and didn't get any bike training in. I did manage to break away and go over to the gym on Saturday.
Guess I'm not gonna get a lot of training in for the ride. I can go workout in Castle Rock when I am staying at my mom's, so that will be awesome to get some cardio training in.
But for the most part, I'm not getting any on-the-bike training.
Donations have quickly gone down. Whered'ya all go? I don't think I will come close to the amount that we got last year. Makes me sad. Oh well. I sure did try!
I seem to be totally out of camera mode too. I keep forgetting to bring my camera to events. Probably cuz I am taking so many photoshoots right now.
For example, this Saturday night we went to the Art Erotic Auction at the Blue Genie Gallery. It was very well attended and there was some amazing artwork. Perfect photo opportunities.
A lot of really naughty stuff- not sure how much of it sold. There wasn't any bids on a great many items. I was surprised when I had heard that the event had made a lot of money last year. I mean, what do you do with a picture of a guy shooting his load mid-air? I just don't know, I prolly wouldn't even buy the prints I did. Which says a lot. Erotic art is a fickle field.
I talked to a friend named Jim while perusing the atwork.. He had attended the event last year. Jim said bidding started a little later in the evening and that I shouldn't worry. But Nathan and I wanted to head out, so we left about 11pm, with an hour to go. I sure hope people started bidding! It looked like people were finally jotting down bids.
I did spot a couple items that I did like, but sadly the value started at a 1,000 bucks. No bids on them, and I really didn't want to open with a $20 bid. Wonder if everyone else was thinking the same thing.
Sunday I was supposed to shoot Nathan with previous model Devon, but we ran into a teensy bit of drama with scheduling. I went over to Tony's place and watched the "L Word" which is really quite addicting.
For next weekend, I have my old roommate Ron coming for a visit with his boyfriend. They are going to the aGLIFF Academy award show on Sunday night. They get in on Friday and leave Monday.
But I am flying out on Sunday so will miss the event. Not a big deal, but will have to make sure Ron has a key to the place. I did join aGLIFF as a Producer member, which entitles me to advertising in their program and slide show, so I am supporting them regardless of showing up. I'm just not gonna be able to attend.
Lukas will move in also that weekend, so the house will be full of activity.
Visit Matson Belle
Next Saturday I will be photographing Matson Belle for a new CD/Website project they are working on. Should be a great change of pace. Matson Belle was nominated last year by the American Music Awards as best new independent artist.
We're gonna do some studio shots, and if the weather is good, some out door thang.
I put John online, along with Branden, so go check him out.
That's it for today, sorry so short and “recappy”
