Cory in Austin Ruins- On Sale on the sites' home page.

You know how you just can't seem to say no?

I dunno what's goin on, but I continue to be on everyone's “I need a favor” list.

And I never seem to be able to say no.

It's been like that for a couple weeks. I've been running all around town, doin lil favors at every free moment that I could.

I had three furniture runs this week, (Nicole's loveseat before work, Kristin and Paul's mattress during lunch, and Michael's wardrobe) Plus several staff borrowed my truck on Friday to move a bat cage, I was like “Here..just take the frickin keys..and be back at 1pm cuz I am supposed to be over at Mary's to fix her home computer.

Home computer repair was also high this week. Four computers all required on site visits. That's three lunches gone, and one evening run…oh yeah I also ran out to Barbara's on Saturday to fix her CDROM drive, forgot about that one.

I also spent all of Friday night working on Austin Real Pros computers, which thankfully was a paying gig, and always, Bill Evans treats me super swell, Well, actually everyone else does too, and I figure all this will come back. It's Karmically Correct. But that was literally my first free night, and I was like. “Gee, why am I working on Friday night, I need to get a life!” But it was good money, and I sure need it.

There were tons of other Little Things that seem to come in. Little Things that all needed to be done. “Upload this for me.” “Could you retouch this image of me.” “All my email on my website is missing, can you find it?” “Can you install this program on my laptop?” None of which were paying things, just Little Things.

I know I am whining, but seriously, it felt like about every 4 hours, someone was knocking on my door, ringing my phone, or leaving me a voicemail message, with a little task that “PLEEEASSSE could you do for me?”

I certainly can't charge my friends, but if I keep this up, I won't get anything done. I guess I'm kinda thinking, geez, when do I call in favors with everyone? I tend to just get my own shit done, and if I can't, I hire someone or figure it out myself.

I got too many skillz right now. I need to be dumber! Or grumpier- that's not working!

Really trying to figure out when I call in favors. I really need to do the website in PHP and have been asking Mikey at updmedia.com about how to go about it.. But what else? Hmmm.

I am going out of town next weekend. I do need someone to house sit with Kitty!. I think maybe Nicole is going to do that. I just don't want to ask. I really don't want to board her, but I think I might. I just don't like relying on other people..ya know? Best not to rely on them.

Anyway, so it was a week long of Honey Do's and I of course wanna do them, but it seemed like a bunch at once.

I did have a couple bright spots of the week

On Wednesday we had an office fun day at Zilker Park. The crowd was small, but relaxed. Our staff size has really diminished over the year.

had been planned for months, but with Elaine now heading things up, the ambience is more festive and relaxed. Normally I wouldn't go to this type of thing, but the weather has been so beautiful that I couldn't resist- and besides, I needed a break.

Kristin celebrated her 30th Birfaday this week. As always, she got dressed up for the big day, and I had to get a snap of her in her "Fancy Pants". I got her a gift certificate for Barnes and Noble, Some Berty Botts Every Flavor Jelly Beans, and a book called “Mad at Martha”-- a cute book by some Austin women that have simple recipes that make Martha Stewart's stuff look like a PhD. dissertation.

I'm hoping she will re-gift it to me at Christmas! ~g~

I took these silly shots of her. I wanted to get a bunch more, and do a running joke, but she really only had the one beer, so it was hard to keep shooting her with the same bottle.

Thankfully Jim aka “Crash” was there to man the Grill. Jim's awesome at getting organized and volunteering to do this type of thing. Really appreciate his helpfulness. And he makes a mean weenie!

We had our picnic after work near the Zilker Rock Garden. I have always seen the sign, but never really SEEN the Garden. Well, what a let down. It looked like the bottom of a drainage runoff and was filled with garbage. Bleh.

Ok, one last staff picture. About 6 staff people are missing, but even with the husbands and wives, the number seems kinda small. We have shrunk!

Damn economy.

  Little Bike Rides Sunday

The other fun thing was I got out on my mountain bike on Sunday for a couple hours. I did ride a little last weekend, but I kept getting flats. I even stopped at Bicycle Sport Shopt and got a new back tire. The old one was B.A.L.D.

I can't believe it, but I got another one today! So much for riding my mountain bike on the streets rather than my road bike so I don't have to deal with flats.

Anyway, last weekend I road down to Town Lake, and for the first time ever I got to take the new nifty pedestrian bridge that they recently finished. This time I took my camera with me.

Ok, so I know the pics aren't that interesting, but this bridge was pretty expensive, muchly debated and needed and they did an awesome job on it. Lots of little spots to just sit and watch the river from park benches or overhaning cul-de-sacs. Even the lamp posts have Texas stars. The spiral case is so bikers can go up easily, and was necessary in the tight spot they had to work with on the 1st St. Side. It's tons oh fun to go spiraling up and down. Two thumbs up for the City of Austin!

The bike ride felt good. Wish I had more time to do rides like this.

That's about it for this week. I did manage to get a bunch of yard work in on Sunday- Hedges trimmed, leaves rake, and most importantly a bath for one stinky Kitty! dog.

See ya in 7
