New digs

Yeah, so I skipped last week. I had to paint my new office last Sunday.

Yep, I moved offices. . . again.

Remember what I said about Elaine leaving? Well, she's back. Our new bazillion dollar President was dismissed and now Elaine is President. Slick..eh?

Elaine is kick ass. Real driven, organized, and can handle our Founder. Optimism is finally back up.

The upshot was she moved into the Presidential Suite, which left her fabulous corner office open. I turned it down the first time it was offered to me, not wanting the hassle of moving my server farm again, but they made me see the logic in it, so I up and moved.

I REALLY like my new office. They will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers before I leave this one behind. It's in the same location as my last office (corner) but I am up on the top level and I feel like I am sitting in a treehouse with the completely glassed in walls.

What was real funny was how the office was rooting for me to get the office cuz my last move I had no room for my couch. They were all sad to see it go. Ironically, I sold that couch about three weeks ago to Mary for $200. So it was off to buy a new one with Mary's money. Of course I couldn't find one for that cheap, but it came daaaaamn close ($300). I have my super top secret location for finding furniture at uber cheap prices. Shhhhhhh.

The new couch is not as comfy as the last one, but the staff will break it in no time. I have a constant stream of visitors to my office. Some therapy mixed with business advice, and TONS of planning. Practically the whole staff came by to sit on it for their trial run. I can't believe how much it was missed.

Elaine's office was painted yellow also. Not a bad yellow like the last office, but a very pale and pleasing yellow. It didn't go with my new Queer Eye makeover I had planned, and besides, yellow makes me look jaundiced.

I had to get it painted, and quick, I was going to be moving my server farm on Monday, and once that was in place, it would be impossible to paint.

Joey, who works at Lowe's paint department, and is a paint expert, came over last Sunday and helped me paint all day. We worked from 11am to 9pm. There was no way I could have done it without him.

We worked well together to. Joey is a new friend, and we were pleased that we could spend the whole day working on such a tiring project without any drama. He's a good guy, and I think he will pose for my Jock art piece that I have been doing. Will get some pics of him up here someday soon! Amazing green eyes!

So basically, that blew my Sunday, and there was so much..uh..chaos the week before with all the office drama, there wasn't really much to cover.

Remember when I said Faith and went around Austin and took pictures? Well they came in handy. I have NEVER had any artwork up in my office. So printed up some of the images we took in black and white with some one element in the image done in sepia. They look great if I say so myself, and I really like the Austin theme.

I went out late Saturday night and took a couple night shots. I need two more pictures to finish off the wall. I like the night shot, but was surprisged that all the lights were out on the buildings. Is that something they did for terrorists? That just stoopid? Like that bit of neon is any brighter than what the building looks like now and makes that much better of a target. I think a terrorist could FIND the building even without the neon.

The Austin Motel is VERY Austin, but not sure it fits. I might go take me some Longhorn photos. Way stereotypical, but will fit.

Quite a bit has gone on this week, plus I have some stuff I want you all to do for me.

So let's get on with it.

  Create a Buzz Tuesday

from f-victim Pool Party Spread

Ok, here is the deal. With the PayPal switch over to CCBill, I lost a lot of my already too precious few members. I also gave up on bCentral, Microsoft's mail list program about this time. So contacting fans has been tough. I started a Yahoo group, but haven't been able to figure out how to add buttons on my site for new people to join. (ok, so I haven't tried real hard!)

I need to get membership up, and I need your help.

So, you don't have to join….though I wish..sniff..you would…if you haven't already. I do have plans for more prints for sell, and other nifty things that maybe you “No I don't need Adult Material” people might enjoy.

What I need is a Buzz.

I was thinking about doing this anyway and then this week I was watching the Making of I'm The One That I Want - Margaret Cho's video. In order to get the news out there about the show, they formed street teams to create a buzz about the DVD. They hit everyone up to go out and spread the word.

That's what I need!

I know a lot of you post on message boards, talk on chat rooms, and belong to many yahoo groups or newsgroups. I know the groups are already filled with porn sites that routinely jack up the flow of things by posting their stuff there, and I don't want to duplicate that…per se.

What I want you to do is go forth with my images (preferably the G type- but I know some lists require some nudies) and make posts with an image or two. Get some interest as a user, fan, viewer, reader etc. Give your own personal Seal of Approval.

“Found this one on ChaosInAustin.com” No hard sell..ahem. But just draw some attention to us.

Some other ideas (and open to any ideas!)

Refer people in chat rooms to my site.

On your profiles put in your tagline or prominent location “Huge fan of ChaosInAustin.com” “Best Guys on the Net!” etc. If a couple hundred of you did that in all your profiles, surely it would cascade into more members?

Its frustrating cuz I pop on Gay.com, and see my images. I go over to OutInAustin and there are Solis adverts..with my guys. I have all this exposure, but no one knows to come back to me or my site.

You see what I mean?

So go forth, spread the news. Toss some pics on the net (make sure the URL is on them!) and send everyone my way! Don't go crazy posting entire galleries, just give them a taste.

Any picture you like be it the Bio4ms area, F-victim, and Members area, drop one or two in key locations.

I do have a banner advert, but nto sure that banners work. The photos might be more effect.

  Barbara's New Movie Thursday-Friday

268-06tn.jpg

Speaking of buzzes…chips, click, and scolds…

I spent two days at home with Barbara, working on her new movie. I am producing it for her!

It's really an amazing movie about bat vocalizations. She knows what bats are saying! She's done years of research, capturing their audio and behavior on film. The video is about 15 minutes, and is a little rough on the edges, but we have big plans to improve on it.

We've been using PowerDirectorPro, and it def. has some drawbacks. I really need to get a copy of Adobe Premier.

We've been in Rush Mode as the International Bat conference is happening in a week, and Dr. McCracken is going to show it for Barbara in front of the world's leading most bat scientists. Barbara can't go cause she has to feed bats nightly!)

It may not impress many of the general public, but everyone is psyched that it will wow the scientific community.

I also did my good Barbara deed of the month. I registered the domain name AustinBatHospital.com and paid for one year hosting (ok..so that was 8 bucks a month!) I got a really nice deal from GetWired.net! My goal is to get her setup so that maybe she can get donations, sell some stuff, and create an entire bat visit.

So I will be setting up an entire website for her! Who knows when I will have time for that. Geez. I'm crazy. But it will get done!

Would there be anyone out there that would be willing to help set her up as a Non-Profit so that she can make the donations she receives tax deductible?!?

I have no idea how to start that process.

We plan on doing tons of great stuff on this site. I am so excited by it!

  Network issues All Week
Another reason I didn't do an entry last week, was that I was planning on changing my hosting service to BoysInc.com's servers. I had mailed them a CD with my website on it (It's just too big to ftp anymore) and I didn't want to have figure out what updates had been done in the interim. So the site stayed frozen, giving me another reason to take a break.

I am happy to say that the move went very very smoothly because of both Remik (BoysInc.) and Jeff at my old hosts (GetWired.net) help.

The new servers are super fast.

But during all this, I had my own problem. My net connection at home kept going down!

It went down about 5 times this week. On Saturday, it went down about 1pm and never came back on.

I'm down at Little City typing this, and might have to upload Sunday night from this location. Time Warner will be out on Wednesday, but hopefully it will come up before then.

So that's about it.

Be prepared for some weird funky shit!

And go out there and spread the word! I MEAN IT!

Did you know everytime you download something off my site, it costs me money? Don't you just love Capitalism?

If you have enjoyed the journal or any of the other features, why not join the Bio4ms area or go shopping in the Gear section? Ok, so you may not be into naked boys (what?!?) and you certainly don't have to join every month. Just toss a few bucks my way every now and then so I can keep paying off those bandwidth bills and improving the site.

Ahhh..the power of the dangling carrot! Keeps me going! And I promise to keep you all going...with the most mundane journal entries, fabulous columns, and of course, the hottest guys I can lay my lense on.

So JOIN already! ~g~
