After all this time, I still have a lopsided smile.
Happy 200th Entry to me!

Ok, so this entry is not at all what I envisioned. I got several really good ideas for an entry. The best was a “Where are they now” retrospective, but that involved a lot of legwork. Janet and Joanne stepped up to the plate for updated bios, but after going through a few of the first year's entries, I realized this was going to take a lot of research.

Then an amazing thing happened. I put a bid on a new house, and with a little adjustment in dollar amounts (Ok a LOT of adjustments- thank you Bill Evans!) we got the price down to something that I wouldn't have to resort to dining on dog food.(but Top Ramen for sure)

The closing date: May 28th!! Leaving about 21 days to get all the details that go along with buying a house done in a very shot time period. Of course Bill and Michael (my mortgage guy) Make it all a breeze, but contract negotiations, house inspections, termite inspections, mortgage interviews….gag…survey fees…urk…all conflict with my well-oiled schedule.

On top of all that, I had to get my current house ready for sale. That included de-gaying the house a bit, finishing the yard, and taking care of all those glaring no-nos. My house went on the market on Wednesday. I hope it sells, because it will be nearly impossible to carry two mortgages. Financial ruin, literally, could occur in 30 days. We're talking major gamble here.

My dad suggested I keep the house and rent it out. A possibility of course, but man, if I don't keep the house rented every month, at least in the first year, I would be totally screwed. As it is, I will be living hand to mouth.

David is still iffy about moving to Dallas, and I am trying to not pressure him to stay and leaving his options and the door open to him any time. He's got enough pressure as it is making such a life changing decision, I don't want to add to the burden.

I will of course get another roommate, or two, in order to cover the higher mortgage. I am not putting anything down on this house. I've been spending all my extra money on improving this house, so there isn't a real cache of money to pull from. I am truly sucking every last cent out of every account to get in.

Why am I taking such a gamble? Because. I really want to invest in my photography. And this house allows for it. The garage is COMPLETELY finished, Air-conditioned and insulated. You can leave the door to the garage open (the one that goes from the house to the garage) and not feel like you are looking at a garage, per se. The perfect studio.

I had two photo shoots this weekend and had two fans blowing cool air into the garage. Tacky and certainly not energy efficient. Despite cooling the garage for three hours, it was still pretty hot in there, and it was only 90 degrees outside! Not sure what I will do when it is gonna be over a hundred degrees.

Mostly I am moving because I need the studio space. Also, the location is fabulously close to the office. 8 miles, and only 11 minutes. That alone willl save me about 45 minutes a day. And I run a tight schedule. I may sit and watch some TV and NOT work with all that extra time!

And all this means that you all are treated to a standard run-of-the mill entry. No fan fare, no nakie guys. Just everyday life.

I will say that I did take a look back at some of those early entries and really noticed the changes that the site has morphed into. It's come a long way from the simple ego site that basically had a few pictures of me and my stats.

Lots of people have come and gone in my life also. A few are gone for good, but many are still a large part of my life. Janet and Joanne are always in my thoughts even though they are a thousand miles a way. All my Bills….which is a name I feel must be a prerequisite for being my friend. Bill (jbb- who I met from my chat room) is still a great pal that I hang with at least a couple times a month. Then there is Bill (Intoon) up in Chicago, who is a prime example of how Internet chat rooms can create strong and caring friendships over thousands of miles. Of course Bill Evans, who I called from his Advocate advertisement when I literally had $200 in the bank. He has not only helped get me back on my feet with two home purchases, but who also has always “Told it like is.” with me, and given invaluable incite and advice. We can't forget Bill Sherman at Ajaxx (and Andy) The lastest Bill in my life, that I hope will further blossom into a great working friendship.

Many people over time have contributed to this journal and its extended families. The columnists especially, who make this so much more than a ME ME ME thing. I get support from my parents too, who might not go to every part of the site, but still enjoy a wide variety of the features found here. To you all..thanks!

I of course want to include everyone else who makes this journal hit the stands every 7 days like clockwork. David, Craigger, Kristin, geez..so many of you that just let me run on and on about the trials and tribulations..and DRAMA of doing this show. Your support is immeasurable.

I've always said this site is supported by the kindness of strangers, mostly strangers who feel they know me- and yet I don't know them at all. The site now cost me (in recurring monthly bills) $620 a month. That's quite a bit for an ego site. And one could easily double that figure if you included props, upgrades, and other incidentals.

So, more than ever, I want to thank you The Reader, for tuning in week after week. Sending the occasional “Good Job!” letter. Moreover, I simply have to thank those Members of the site, who month after month, donate a bit of their earnings so that I can pay for this mess. You all TRULY make this site happen. And boy, do I mean that!

If I didn't cover my expenses, this would all simply go away.

I've got lots of ideas still in mind and the future looks bright and exciting. June will debut the Summer Fashion spread for 2002, a top secret project that I hope will make you say “When did he have time to do this?!?!!” ~hehe~ A new column may be on the horizon, as well as lots more tedious recounting of my life, hopefully balanced with handsome scantily clad guys!

So here's to 200 episodes and 200 more! Thanks everyone!

"Live to till"-Madonna's rare "Like a Virgin Farmer" CD Monday and Thursday

What with the house going up on the market, I knew I just couldn't sit around and wait for the funds to come in for the sod. So I upped the speed on the this plan.

On Monday night I called around trying to find a small tiller to break up the yard a bit. I found place that had a 5hp one and I went to pick it up. They use this big BIG platform to lift it up into the back of the truck. The whole time they were doing this I was thinking "How the Hell am I going to get that out of the truck" Turns out it was a 10hp, and not at all what I wanted. As soon as they got it loaded I was back at the rental desk, telling them to take it back. They refunded my money right away (I was very clear that I wanted a 5hp, and they thought that was a 5hp) They did have another store further down I-35 that did have them, so I drove all the way up there and got this one.

It was still pretty heavy, and thankfully David was home to help me lift it out of my truck.

As you can see from the pictures, the tiller pulled me all around the yard. It was like trying to control a bucking bronco. David would leap in to do a row or two, giving me a chance to rest. I can't imagine doing this for a living! We both got some amazing blisters, and for two days after my back and shoulders were nicely sore (it was that good kind of sore, like I had a good workout)

It took about an hour and half to do the front yard. I didn't go too deep with the tines cuz I didn't know where the water main was. That would have been a blooper!

200.06tn.jpg
I also ordered two pallets of grass to be delivered on Thursday (only $35 bucks to deliver!). I called in sick on Thursday (I have like 400 hours of sick leave) and the grass arrived about 11:30am

I eyeballed the two pallets and kept thinking "Shit, its not gonna be enough"

About half way through the first pallet I was thinking "Shit, will I ever get through this first pallete?"

I've not had to move sod by myself before, and let me tell you, moving two pallets all by your lonesome in the middle of the day is finger and back breaking, sweaty icky muddy dirty terrible!

200.07tn.jpg
Right about here I was thinking I wasn't going to have enough, and wishing I had a hunky boyfriend who lives his life like an HGTV do-it-yourself show.

Water, I need water.

200.08tn.jpg
Well, here is the finished project a day or two later. Been watering it like hell. We might get some rain on Sunday, and that would be awesome. It looks SOOOOOOOOOOO much better, I should have done this last year. I am such a lawn Nazi!

And I had plenty of grass, in fact I had enough to do the side of the house in the backyard, completely covering the area that is just dirt. Ya know, the part that Wookie thinks is her personal digging ground. Well no more! So now you can look out the living room doors and see nice lush grass! (but don't look too far- the rest needs sodding too!))

Now, if only someone would buy the dang house!

  Fawn Memories Wednesday
200.04tn.jpg
We had a little bit of Nature excitement at the office this week. There are tons of deer in the area, and right now their little babies are so much fun to watch.

During the day, the mommie deers will leave their fawns in one place. The fawns lay there quietly until mom comes back. One of them was left sitting underneath a tree on the lawn behind our office. Nature nuts that we are all, we all were concerned about it being left out in the open, and watched its behavior to make sure it was gonna be all right. It sat quietly under the tree all day long.

But by the second day, the fawn was still in the same place, so we went out to investigate. The fawn had moved a little, and now was sitting near some Fire Ants. She was licking them off of herself, consuming them. I guess baby deer will do this, and the toxins are still inside the ants, and it will kill them.

200.05tn.jpg

She didn't make much of a fuss when we picked her up, and Brian moved her to a better spot until we could get the "deer people" (The deer rahabbers) out to help her.

We apparently got her just in time. She was still strong, and once properly re-hydrated, we were informed she was now standing strong. Anyone want an orphaned deer? I've already got a goat dog that likes to chew down my plants!

  De-porning the house Wednesday
pornbegone-lg2.jpg
I knew that my artwork would likely NOT be appreciated by a wide audience of house hunters, so I went around and de-porned the house. I was really surprised at how many nakie boys I had in every corner of the house. My David Vance calendar that sits behind my desk, the Freshmen Magazine calendar that I got for free in Vegas that hangs in the food closet (I keep track of the dog's heart worm dosages on it), my Mark Allen Freshmen Magazine magnet on the fridge, to the 10x16 prints I created when I first got my larger format printer. These three prints I had framed and matted, and often catch the eye of potential models.

Anyway, as I was starting to pack them up, I was thinking, "Hey! why not sell these instead of moving them (and possibly breaking them) and see if I can come up with enough money to pay for the house inspection!"

So I put them up on the front page, and a collector grabbed all three right away! I am SO SO SO HAPPY! Thank you Mr. Collector! All three are bubbled wrapped and packed up nicely and on their way!

And my home inspectors thanks you too!

Hmmm..wonder if I should offer framed and matted prints. Theyre pretty expensive to do, and shipping alone is about 40 bucks. Hmmmm..

Quote of the Week "I need HOW much to close?" ~faint~
Lyric I WAS going to put the words to "Days Go By" by Dirty Vegas up here...what I THOUGHT was a cool underground song, but Noooooooooo..Madison Avenue has once again discovered great music and used them in ads (This time a freaky car commercial- a trend set by VW and their use of Fluke and the Orb songs)

Oh well, it's still a good song...here are the lyrics.

You....
You....
You....still a whisper on my lips
Feel it at my finger tips
It's pulling at my skin
you. ....
leave me when Im at my worst
feeling as if I've been cursed
bitter cold within
days go by and still I think you
days when I couldnt live my life without you
without you.
