The hills are alive with the sound of gasping. |
It's Sunday night and I am pretty pooped. It's been a great week for bike riding. I actually road my bike five days in a row! The rain has finally cleared, and it has been in the high 70's and 80's.
There are three 7 percent grade hills by my house. Two of them are two miles long! It's awesome to have such great hills and very little traffic just out my door. I love it! It does take me a long time, and my miles are not real good...about 14-16 miles that takes me almost an hour and half, but it is a great workout and gorgeous.
But the big news this week is my loot from Austin is here!
Jbb arrived yesterday with the rest of my stuff. Bless his little heart for making the two day trek through the desert for me!
Everything went very well. My roommate Bill in Austin packed the rest of my stuff up for me so it was all ready to be picked up. Jbb, Bill, his friend Martin and David, all chipped in to load the truck in a short time.
My stuff filled up a 17' U-Haul truck. Bill and my other roommate David had a garage sale last Saturday, getting rid of a lot of the big bulky stuff that would have been a nightmare to move.
So my elliptical trainer, my gym set, my bowflex, couches, TV's and anything that would put me into the next sized truck had to go. And it wasn't just moving it that would be costly. Once here, that stuff had no where to go. So it had to be sold off.
All told they made $1,100 bucks from the sale of everything. I don't even want to contemplate what I spent on it in the first place. The sales from the garage sale came out to about what it was gonna cost me to have the rest of the stuff moved out. Sweet! So I can't complain despite giving up so much stuff for so cheap.
Jbb's drive across was uneventful. He brought his laptop along and listened to a bunch of MP3s too keep his mind occupied.
He arrived about 3pm on Saturday. Kitty! was anxiously awaiting all the good smelling stuff from Austin. She also very patiently waited at the threshold of the garage, but occasionally would have to come out to see what we were doing.
We emptied the big stuff first and then just loaded all the boxes into the garage.
I didn't know what was in what box, so basically had to open all the boxes and then find a home for them. The garage quickly turned into a disaster area, and I don't think I have ever moved in such a messy fashion.
But Bill had packed everything perfectly and it all arrived unscathed.
There was tons of stuff that really needed to be tossed before moving them, but of course Bill didn't know what was good and what was really needing to see the bottom side of a dumpster. I quickly had a large pile of "dumpster dash" items, and even some stuff that just wasn't going to fit in the down-sized house. I felt guilty for Bill having to pack all the junk, but there was just no way for him to know what was crap, and what a memento.
Jbb was awesome at helping unload the truck. Later I set him the task of hooking up the stereo system and integrating it into the cable/dvd thang. It's pretty complicated, and I was happy to not have to sit there sticking wires in out of wee little holes.
I tackled a few rooms, and by late Saturday night I was still full of energy to keep unpacking, but poor Jbb was asleep on his feet, but still trying to help out. I finally had to call it quits when I realized he wasn't gonna go willingly to bed unless I quite too.
I got up early Sunday and unpacked the kitchen and started hanging up some artwork. I didn't realize how much stuff I had acquired. It all seemed so sparse spread out in the bigger house.
Jbb got up and around but instead of putting him to work, we went and toured around San Diego. We took a short drive through Mission Trails, then over to the beach, and also ran a few errands.
We came back and went hiking up Cowles Mtn. It felt good to get out and stretch out legs.
After we came back, JBB grabbed a quick shower and I took him over for a massage. I had got him a massage as a "thank-you" for having to endure two days in a U-Haul truck.
I went over to Ikea to get a new cabinet for behind the couch. This house is sorely lacking closet space, so my new mantra is "cabinetry". It fits nicely, and now I have a new location for all the DVD's.
After Ikea, I picked up one of my buddies, got Jbb from his massage, and the three of us went over to Baja Betty's for dinner with all the gay boys.
I haven't had much time to do much else. The house is still mess as I try to integrate all the crap I own into one location.
As for the site, things are going ok. I am now actively hunting for models for my own site. Took an advert out on Craigslist, and got some good leads. But really need to buckle down and find some of my own models.
Also looking into some more advertising with some of the cruising sites. I had an advert at Ohlalaparis.com and it worked nicely. Also the little advert on Manhunt has helped. Might take out an advert with Queerclick.com and Adam4Adam.
Well, that's about it!
