Stress is free!
So my life has had a chaotic turn. But the center seems to be holding, just not my stomach. It's all good stuff, but my tummy is doing leaps. Which I love cuz I don't tend eat when I am stressed. Instant diet plus burning a few extra stress calories.
Speaking of calories, I got a pretty nasty cough on my flight back from San Diego. Guy behind me was hacking up a lung the entire time, and sure enough by Tuesday I was coughing like crazy. Finally got it under control a day or two later by downing decons and cough medicine. Which makes me really wired. So I haven't been biking or working out, and that makes me itchy and wired and I can't sleep at night.
No time to anyway. I had declined the offer to move to San Diego, and like a doodoo head, I told them why. A phone call later and they said, “We can make all that happen, come work with us!” Plus the guys there are really nice, and I relate to them. Hard to say no to them!
So I took the offer, and wham bam I am committed to at least 6 months working in San Diego for them. Suddenly I am trying to figure out what I should bring, leave or do, and How I can get there quick as possible.
So I quit BCI again. I had been training my assistant to take over, something I had agreed to do from that last time. So I am not leaving them in the lurch. Still, my assistant's head about popped off when I told him. He and I have a really good report with each other. We were making really good progress on the new design of the website, but a huge terrible failure on our catalog system. I am sad and glad to be moving on.
Everyone took the news pretty well. The want to do a party, but dang, I just don't know how I am gonna have time. I'm not really leaving, as I will likely be consulting for them for the next 6 months.
And this week is crazy.
It's Friday and I am sitting at the airport. I am taking a flight up to Denver to work with a model that I have been trying to shoot for the last 18 months. He used to live in Hawaii, and that ticket was way out of my league. He moved to Denver, and I figured it would be a great way to finally work with him, and see my parents.
No time to start packing my bags and figuring the move out this weekend.
I get back late Sunday night, then on Monday morning, I hit the ground running trying to get everything squared away at BCI throughout this last week with them.
Then on Thursday night I have a model from Chicago flying in. Sean shoots with Robert on Friday, and me on Saturday.
I think I will get a very small u-haul on Saturday also. On Sunday morning we will load the trailer up and I will drive over to San Diego. Two day trip. Kitty! Will man the passenger seat.
I pull into San Diego. Find a place to park my stuff, and then hunt for an apartment. Hopefully I can find something quickly, unload, and then start working asap.
So there is gonna be some down time as I try to coordinate the move and web updates. I think I am ready until the 7th. And I can always find a net connection to upload.
I am hoping during this time I can schedule a couple shoots over a weekend in Austin, and just fly back and use my studio here.
David is considering moving in. I will likely buy him out of his brand new lease, and there are quite a number of advantages for him moving in. So I hope that he will take me up on it. Bill and David are both designer, and they could actually bounce ideas of each other and perhaps work on a project or two together.
Well, that's it. This entry is early, and then next week will just be a recap of what did and didn't happen.
Let's see if we can make this happen!
Change is good! Right?
