Well, it only took Bill seven days of living here to say I work too much. Well, I guess he has said it before, but I think he really witnessed it in action this time.
This weekend WAS pretty full, but it seems to be pretty normal these days. Getting a journal entry done has become more difficult. I used to be able to block out Sunday mornings, but that time is gone. Many models are staying here so that at least two whole weekends a month are pretty much lost to hosting them. Not complaining, just explaining.
Alex, my January 2004 model, was in town to shoot this weekend. I wasn't supposed to shoot with him. Jerry Stevens, one of my favorite photographers was coming out of semi-retirement after a bit of eye surgery. He was gonna come down here and shoot Alex and possibly Andy. Alex was also gonna work with Robert one day this weekend, making the trip more lucrative for him. My job was to just host Alex for the weekend, and maybe work a bit with Jerry on some shoots. Learn from a Master ya know.
Jerry's surgery has not progressed as well as he would have liked, so he had to cancel. That meant Alex was coming in, likely expecting to make a bit morning, so I punted and said I would work with him on Sunday. I kind of have been strapped for cash cuz this whole video project has really set me back on investing on models with no real pay back on it yet. Didn't really budget for this shoot.
I hope Jerry gets his eye situation in hand. So looking forward to meeting and working with him.
Plus, a super muscular guy named Jeff emailed me last week. He's new to town and a natural body builder type. Don't have anyone like him on the site, so I could hardly say no. I had scheduled to work with him this Tuesday. Plus another model, Chris, is flying in on Thursday. Doing photos AND a video with him, and OUCH..thats a lot of money.
But Alex...wow..I just can't say no to him. He is such a good lookin guy. And that body. ~sigh~ How could I pass up a great opportunity to work with him again?
We tried to do some new stuff. Alex pretty much just wants to do more artistic stuff. He did a video at Sean Cody's and really has scaled back on his "comfort level" on more erotic type stuff. We have to think creatively and artistically and try to forge new ground, but its all more artsy rather than porny.
I did the camping thing again though. I had done with a guy named Michael once before. I got the lighting a little better this time, but it was HOT. We started out at about 10:30 am and it was already 95 degrees and 100 percent humidity. We didn't shoot too long. Just too hot.
We came back and did some studio shots with blowing fans and fabric. I wanted to do a shot of Alex in a button up shirt blowin in the wind too. I know, stereotypical, but I like em.
Alex is soooooo quiet! Very shy. I feel like I talk too much when I am around him. He also never complains, and definitely has the attitude of investing himself and his time to get a good shot. He's got a lot of cool opportunities ahead of him, so you might be seeing Alex all over the place!
I ran him to the airport at 5pm and got back and thought I could squeeze a bike ride in, but the sky was looking threatening.
So I paid bills, cleaned up the studio, did some invoices, troubleshot some domain issues for Bill, answered email, finished the movie project, watered the yard, did some laundry, started working on this journal entry.....and...well..it was about this time that Bill noticed I had been working since 9am and said, "You work too much".
Yep..I guess do. I need to have a weekend to myself I think. Just not gonna happen anytime soon.
I actually jumped ahead of myself.
On Saturday Alex did some shots with Robert. Barbara and I cleaned up the farm, and it was looking pretty good for their shoot. They also borrowed my bike and biking gear and did some shots of Alex cycling about.
While they were shooting, Bill and I went over and worked with Seabrook Jones. He is doing the opening trailers for the aGLIFF film festival, and needed a still photographer. The concept is about diversity and I think he is slicing and dicing people up (a film effect of course..not REALLY!) and mixing up the body parts then putting it all back together again. He shot video and I took the stills. Not sure how he is going to put it all together, but if my photos make it into the trailer, it means my stuff will be seen at the opening of every movie during the film festival.
We took shots over everyone individually, in small groups- both mixed and same sex. GEAR provided us with a sound stage and the lighting equipment.
Seabrook ( to the left of me ) did an amazing job finding a diverse crowd too. Everyone got along. They seemed nervous and excited, and a little out of their element to be doing the project. But the enthusiasm was there, and after a little jolt of embarassment at having to "act" a little, the other models would cheer and clap after each person's performance.
So that's about it. Other than a quick thumb update. Oh boy.
Happy to report my thumb is practically all healed up! Used some new bandaids that act like a scab or a callous. Can you believe it's only been a week since I did this? These band-aids are amazing!
Very cool stuff! I also went and got a Tetanus shot too this week. I think the last time I had one was way back just before college. So my thumb is back in action!
Hopefully will have some more pics to show you of the 2 models this week, and an update on the PPV Movies that are SUPPOSED to come online August 15th!
And yep..that's it for this journal entry.
